Portuguese bikers Vitor and Marco, who now live in the UK, decided to take the opportunity to raise money for Cancer Research UK whilst completing an epic ride from Bristol in the UK, down to Faro in southern Portugal.
Marco explained that the idea behind the fundraising ride came from their shared love of motorbikes and their desire to raise money for this important and very worthy cause which has affected them both personally.
The ride began on 10th July and the pair set off from Bristol Airport, where they work, riding directly to Newhaven to get on the late Ferry to Dieppe.
Once in Europe, they took the opportunity to visit WWII memorials on the coast of Normandy and then headed up to Mount Saint Michelle.
Marco then turned back to Dieppe as he hadn't enough annual leave to continue to Faro unfortunately, Vitor continued to head down south, meeting another group of Portuguese bikers in Santander and then riding up to Chaves in the north of Portugal before then continuing to Faro along the mythical Nacional 2 to the 42nd Faro Motorcycle Rally in Vale das Almas, where he was met by his wife.
After the rally, the return was done via Peniche, to visit family and friends and some holiday time as well.
Marco has set up a fundraising page where donations can be made here: https://fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/page/tugaroo-on-tour-faro-rally-2024
